Amaya's Preschool Graduation!

I can't believe she is done with this part of her life and is ready to start Kindergarten. I must admit I got teary eyed at her graduation. I hate to see how it is going to be her first day of school. :)

She just looks so grown up in these pictures, surely this girl isn't my little Amaya. :)

Baseball

Danny has a baseball tournament this weekend... it's probably the closest one to Parker that he'll have all season long! If you are interested in watching, his games are at noon & 4pm in Littleton...

His team's website is http://www.eteamz.com/ArmourBaseball10/index.cfm?.

I saw you today...

I have been looking for this book for about a year now and I stumbled upon it yesterday in my family home evening lessons box. Not sure why it was in there but I think the timing is perfect :) I was reminded of some memories I had forgotten so I am going to share a few of my favorite ones.
Danny I saw you today....

-coming home from school and whipping up some mashed potatoes
-doing your Ace Ventura impression - you were great! (Mom)
-chasing Kim through the house, being best friends one minute and slugging each other the next; so happy to see each other and then so happy to see each other leave! (Aunt Janet)
-we are collecting autographs of BYU football players at Cougar Stadium on Media day and you are asking me who the "good" players are (Greg)
-you came to visit us for your 12th birthday. It was so hot but you refused to wear shorts! You said you didn't want to get a tan on your legs!
-you and Greg had your picture taken with Ty Detmer at Big O Tires. He even signed your baseball hat (Nik)
- you were upset with me and since I named you, you wouldn't answer to your name. You would only answer if I called you Horton! (Shan)
- you were beating up Michael Rotkin
- you introduced yourself at the first day of seminary and said "How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?" as your personal qoute (Tim)
- I had you in a headlock and you were screaming loudly!
- you were annoying everyone on the basketball court with your screaming, singing, and running across the court (Rick)
- laughing at my vocabulary "wobblers", "jammies", and "tennies" (Kristin)
- every day when I call my son's name..Danny! (Rick)
Those are just a few that made me laugh and cry :) Brady I don't know why you have no entries in the book so maybe you could post some of yours.
I miss little D and I wonder what he would be like now? Do you think we would have liked his wife? :) Would his kids be little screamers??

Amazing Pictures and Music

My brother put this on my family's website and I wanted to share it with you. Apparently, these pictures are on display at the Mesa Temple visitor center. My sister that lives in Mesa has been to see it and said it was absolutely amazing to look at in person. She pointed out that her sister-in-law is in one of the first pictures of the angels proclaiming the birth, she is in the middle. They got permission from the church to use the Pagaent costumes which was a big deal. It started out as a little project and just turned out to be this amazing story of Christ life.

Cookie Monster

Troy hit a milestone today and had his first taste of Grammie G's chocolate chip cookies!! (Well I made the cookies but they are her secret recipe.) Jaci and Amaya were VERY concerned that he didn't have a bib on and that he would not be able to eat it with only two teeth but he managed just fine. He loved it as you can see :)

Danny's Arizona Baseball Tournament...

The good:
  1. It was 85 degrees or warmer EVERY DAY we were there!
  2. Stayed and played one night @ the Biltmore... very nice...
  3. Danny played very well.. his team went 3-2 and placed 4th in the tournament... we beat one team from SoCal, one team from Washington, and one team from Colorado... we lost to two California teams...
  4. We got to see Aunt Janet, Chad & his family, Lori & her family, and Kimmie & her family! It was a nice mini reunion! They came to one of Danny's games and cheered him on..
  5. Jewel got to swim everyday at the hotel... now that she has completed her swim lessons, she has become a little fish...
  6. Kristin got to soak up some much needed sun and spend alot of time outside... she's cooped up in an office all day, so she very much enjoyed the get a way...

The BAD:

  1. I got a high fever and strep throat on the 2nd night there.... didn't make any of Danny's games on Saturday and spent the whole day in bed.... made for a long vacation for me.. not very enjoyable...

The UGLY:

  1. After spending 4 great sunny warm days in Phoenix, when we landed in Denver it was 25 degrees and snowing..... I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt while trying to find the car in the economy lot... again, very enjoyable...

Pictures

I don' have any pictures of Danny or Dad on my computer and would really like some. Will those of you that do please post them to this site or email them to me, please?

Daniel Paul Garrick

(This poem was in our paper this morning written for a Kiley Adam Drysdale who passed 3 years ago....I changed just a couple words and the name)

I know I didn't say goodbye that night so, so long. The time came swift to leave this world awake, asleep, then gone. At first I didn't want to go, my repentance out of reach. I watched my family left of earth wracked with pain and grief. I panicked at the thought of death, my life was way off track. Then I felt my Savior's hand gently caress my back. I'm way too young. I plead with him, sixteen. What can I give? He reassured me of my worth, my eternal worth, my life with Him to live. I knew at a glance. He forgave me. I knew He paved my way, I knew goodbye was meant for earth, I'd see you all one day. In the distance there Dad came, I ran for his embrace. All is made well through our Savior's grace. On earth you've felt the words unsaid, the questions without phrase. Loose ends, untied, just dangle there, smothering joy and praise. But for me my family, my friends, I'm so complete, I've never felt more worth, contentment fills my every breath, since I accepted eternal birth. I miss your touch, but I feel your heart, it permeates the veil. Our lives go on in different world, our righteousness prevails. No explanation has been said, my death seems so absurd. Your minds run over that day, that night, searching for one word. I hear your whispers, your silent pleas, ....."I didn't say Goodbye."You reach for me to feel my touch, then come up empty and you cry. But. goodbye seems so final, when I am near you every day. I know the plan, it keeps us close, I'm never far away. I wish that I could lift the veil, to show you all I see, to calm your sobs, to heal your hearts, to feel you close to me. There are no loose ends, no questions left, this boy is now a man. And faith cements our eternal bond, it guarantees our plan. You know that time, that time I left, my night turned into to day, I was filled with light, with hope, with trust, it had ben a long time since I had felt that way. So now, I whisper in your ear, I'm your boy, your angel, your man, and when your thoughts are dark and gray, just know, goodbye's not in out plan. I can't be said, it doesn't fit, we're forever, you and me. Goodbye is such an earthly word, we'll be together forever, you will see.I love you all more than you can ever know
Your Danny

Rick & Kristin

Happy Anniversary!! Hope things are going great and you get a little time alone today to celebrate!
