Happy Birthday Danny!!!

Just couldn't let the day begin without saying Happy Birthday to my Dannyboy....I wish that he was here for a big family celebration. I still miss him so much and there is not a day that passes...that he isn't in my thoughts several times a day...and I still watch men that I think resembles him at the airport until they are out of sight...wondering what if and how would it be?

Hugs and kisses to you sweetheart....I love you,
Mom

JFR 08

I don't know if I'm the only one getting these emails, but just in case you wanted to know...

To Members of the Great Johnson Family:

This year's reunion will be Friday and Saturday, August 15th and 16th, 2008. Friday night at 6:00 p.m. we will be meeting as adults * ** for an evening full of fun, food, and memories. Hopefully this will give all the adults (this includes young adults!) a much-needed chance to catch up with one another. A wonderful dinner will be served and there will be a slide show that you won't want to miss!
Saturday we will meet at Rock Canyon Park in Provo, UT at 9:00 a.m. for breakfast and mingling, with the program beginning at 10:00. For all those who are ambitious enough we will be having the first ever Johnson family one-mile fun walk/run. We will begin this at 8:00 a.m. And yes… there will be prizes. Following the Johnson Family Program, we will have lunch and games. Trust me, you won't want to miss this. See agenda below.

Now for more business:
The poem this year for youth under 12 is called "Two Frogs". For the 12 – 18 year olds, it is "If Jesus Came to Your House". The poems are attached. Also we would like to extend a special challenge again to all family members to memorize the Family Proclamation. Wouldn't that be powerful if we all had it memorized?
Award nominations for the Arthur Pehr Excellence award and the Beda E. Gustavson Service award must be sent to Barbara Cox at
bjcbmw@yahoo.com by August 1st.
Hooray for the Johnson Family Reunion!
Sincerely,
Lindsay Johnson
(Daughter of Larry Johnson)
*If you are unable to arrange for your kids, let me know—I know a few people around that might be willing to help out for a good cause. And this is a good cause.
** I realize the term "adult" is extremely vague. By this term, we mostly mean those who are 18 and over. And yes, this includes all adults: even if you are not married, don't have 6 kids, and haven't been to a dozen reunions before.
The Two Frogs Author Unknown (11 and under)
Two frogs fell into a deep cream bowl.
One was an optimistic soul--

But the other took the gloomy view.
"We shall drown!" he cried, without more adieu.
So with the last despairing cry,
He flung up his legs and said, "Goodbye."

Quoth the other frog with a merry grin,
"I can't get out, but I won't give in!
I'll just swim around until my strength is spent,
And then when I die, I'll be more content."

Bravely he swam until it seemed,
That the struggle had begun to stir the cream.
On top of the butter, at last he stopped,
And out of the bowl he gaily hopped.

What is the moral? Tis easily found.
If you can't hop out, keep swimming around.

If Jesus Came to Your House Author Unknown (12-18 years)

If Jesus came to your house, to spend a day or two,
If He came unexpectedly, I wonder what you'd do?
Oh, I know you'd give your nicest room to such an honored guest,
And all the food you'd serve to Him would be the very best.

And you would keep assuring Him you're glad to have Him there,
That serving Him in your home is joy beyond compare.
But when you saw Him coming would you meet him at the door
With arms outstretched in welcome to your Heavenly visitor?

Or would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in?
Or hide some magazines and put the Bible where they'd been.
Would you turn off the radio and hope He hadn't heard,
And wish you hadn't uttered that last, loud, hasty word?

Would you hide your worldly music and put some hymn books out?
Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would you rush about?
And I wonder if the Savior spent a day or two with you,
Would you go right on doing the things you always do?

Would you go right on saying the things you always say?
Would life for you continue as it does from day to day?
Would your family conversation keep up it's usual pace,
And would you find it hard each meal to say a word of grace?

Would you sing the songs you always sing and read the books you read?
And let Him know the things on which our mind and spirit feed?
Would you take Jesus with you everywhere you planned to go,
Or would you, maybe change your plans for just a day or so.

Would you be glad to have Him meet your very closest friends,
Or would you hope they'd stay away until His visit ends?
Would you be glad to have Him stay forever, on and on,
Or would you sigh with great relief when He at last was gone?

Yes, it might be interesting to know the things that you would do,
If Jesus, came in person, to spend some time with you.

NY trip

Greg or Nik- do you know if Jake has to bring his actual birth certificate or can it be a notarized copy of it? I don't want to send his actual one unless that is the only choice. I will write a letter authorizing him to leave the country and get it notarized - do I need to include just mom's name or you and Nik too? Thanks! Jake is soooo excited to come!

Happy 65th Birthday Dad!!!

Today would have been a huge celebration if he were still here. 65 years old!!! He could start collecting SSI.

Tonight we will have FHE all about Dad and one of his favorite meals.

I love you Dad!!! Happy B-Day!

Mystery Superhero....

We have a mysterious new Superhero in our midst....
sporting a costume designed without any help from mom or dad.
How do you all like it?
He's lacking a name of course.....
maybe Mr. Underwear or UnderBoy?
What I especially like is the frozen eye mask he dug up out of the freezer.
Burrrrrrrrrrhhhh!
It's about time that thing gets some use...
it's been sitting in the freezer for YEARS.
