Dad always made french toast when mom wasn't home.
some memories:
I always loved shooting hoops and catching dad watching me from bathroom window whilst shaving for his evening interviews. even better were the saturday neighborhood tournaments he would organize and play in. usually he knocked michael rotkin out of the first round.
i liked going to stop n go to get a drink, and dad always wanted a "swig" of my root beer.
going to thrifty's every saturday to get dad's toiletries. that dude went through more shaving cream in a month than I use in a year.
going to deseret book every saturday morning and stopping in at I and Joy Bagels.
ABC news blaring from downstairs at 5:30 am as dad walked on the treadmill.
"brady. tim. time to get up" like clock work at 5:15 for seminary.
If dad were here...the celebration dinner would be Ham, cheese potatoes, cream corn and rolls...maybe a salad...and ice cream and choc cake for dessert. He would have wanted the ice cream soft and a big glass of milk on the side. When we would sing Happy birthday to him...he would be blinking his eyes rapidly to keep the tears from spilling over onto his cheeks. But he would blow out every candle with one mighty blow.
How fun it would be to spend this day with him and Danny and find out what they have been up to. Miss you honey...and my sweet Dannyboy. I love you both with all my heart.
I must get my ability to cry at EVERYTHING from dad :) I get teary when someone sings happy birthday to me too. I know you already did your FHE but things I learned from dad :
My love of church books- can't get enough of Deseret Book
Wanting to play games as a family on Sunday nights
My love for family - I saw his relationship with Aunt Janet and Uncle Greg and it makes me want to be close to my brothers. Makes me want to go on vacations with all of you so the cousins can have what we have.
The ability to do silly things - I will always remember him doing Papa Ooh Mow Mow (no idea how to spell that!) with Uncle Paul and Uncle Greg. I loved that he could be silly.
Making up silly songs- I do it ALL the time! My kids think I am so weird but I make up a song for everything. I remember dad singing to the tune of the Cougar Fight sone..Rise and shine it's time to get up ..time to get up and go to school...or did I make that up thinking it was something silly he would have done?? Now I can't remember!! ha!
I decided to honor Dad this morning by living my life how he would. I started out the day by demonstrating genuine concern and support for a sick friend and colleague. I then conducted a business meeting with authority and in a gregarious fashion -- loaded with top-notch humor. I grilled dinner for my family, played a fundamentally sound game in my league tonight and dropped 30points and was kind to the refs. I tried not to say anything mean today about anyone and I said many personal prayers. We'd all be better if each day we lived as he did.

Good idea Brady! I think we will do the same. I love hearing stories about your Dad. I wish I could have known him.
Are you going to eat liver and onions? :) I think I will eat fish. Yeah right! I like the FHE idea - maybe we should join up Abby and do it together.
I was thinking Chicken Gary. Maybe I can make Swedish meatballs.

Can you guys do me a favor and post at least one thing you learned from Dad that I can share with my kids?
- How to speak to people and make them feel special.
- How to be a good father.
- To be a morning person.
How to be patient...
How to fish....
How to play basketball...

Just curious.... last night at 11pm, my car alarm went off for no apparent reason... no one was out there and there were no signs of forced entry....
Did anyone else have anything happen that was out of the ordinary?
Nothing unusual happened to me yesterday...
Greg inspiring - brilliant idea.
Greg, your comment is quite a bit cockier than Dad's would have been.
Thanks Shannon, Brady, huh? Rick, was your car in the garage?
