In case any of you did not get this email... Here you go. Wouldn't it be something if the Roger Garrick family had 100% family histories turned in this year?! :)
Hi Johnson Family,
Don't know much about the reunion at this point, but we still want to get everyone's history. So, if you would please turn in one page on each of your family members and send them to Valdean by July 31st, we would appreciate it.
E-mail is easiest, but you can also mail it to me at: 3861 Hellers Bend Fallbrook, CA 92028
Also, at the same time, let us know how many history books you would like to order. Last year, they were around $13, so hopefully, they will be about the same again this year. Also, if you would please make sure other members of your family get this message.
My e-mail list is a couple of years old, so I don't know that I have everyone's current address.
Thanks,
Valdean Irvine

Thanks Nik! I didn't get it but I am sure they don't have my correct email address.
I am not sure that I can break my record of never writing my family history! I haven't written in at least 15 years..don't want anyone going into shock. :)
Yeah, that's not going to happen. I went to the reunion a couple years ago. I don't think many people there would care much about our lives because they have no idea who we are. The faces have changed quite a bit. Maybe I'll go again this year and see if my opinion changes.
Latest email I recieved...
Hello fellow Johnson Family members! Our reunion is going to be held on August 15th & 16th in the Alpine/Provo area. On Friday, the 15th we will be meeting as adults (18 & over) at 7:00p.m. at Ted and Barbara's home for an evening full of fun, food and fond memories. This will give all the adults a much needed chance to "catch up" with one another. Among other things there will be a video/slide show from reunions gone by that you won't want to miss!
On Saturday we will be meeting at 9:00 a.m. for a light breakfast and mingling. The official Johnson Family reunion program will start promptly at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by lunch, games and activities. Mark your calendars and plan to attend...more detailed information will be forthcoming. We look forward to seeing you!
Love, The Mel Johnson line
P.S. Please send this email on to any of your family members whose email address is not listed above. Thank you!
Nikki I love the pickles for this blog...perfect.
I was just thinking that just maybe we owe it to Dad since it has been so long and he loved the reunion so much to at least send in our history this time. Put your heads together and see how you feel about it and we can attach pics and maybe a pic of all of us for my 60th bday...(buddy you would do that since you now have the disc). Let me know what you all think.
I'll do it. I am planning on going to the Reunion. Who else is in? No excuses now. You have a place to stay here in Utah. When I went the older people were very happy to have me there. Mom? Shan? Timas? Greg? Rick?
We're out. But we usually submit our histories and anticipate doing so again.
Hmmmmm ok...I will see what I can do to arrange the days off to be there...why not???? After all I do have a place to stay...lol It could be fun and I could brag a tad about my wonderful family...and hey...they deserve a little adrenaline (sp) rush don't ya think? lol AND Greg I had no idea that Nikki has been sending in your histories...that is wonderful..Nikki you rock..put us all to shame at the same time...but you do rock girl. Glad you are family!!!!!
We are out too. Amaya starts kindergarten that week, I don't want her to miss her first couple of days. But we will send in our histories as well. I would like to go to the reunion sometime though, just to experience it after hearing so many stories about it!
I will have to see. With gas prices as they are I will need to be able to afford to drive there. Otherwise I have no excuses since that is when my kids track off for a few weeks. Still not sure I want to write my histories but I will think about it.
I'm impressed they keep doing these things! However, in this technological age, I'm surprised they still publish those books. Get a blog, people.
Anyway, I saw one a few years ago and recognized a handful of names. The rest, I had no idea who they were and found myself not at all interested.
I guess we should get one so we can keep track of who our family is, and so our kids don't end up marrying their cousins at BYU! That's why our kids will be going to DeVry!
How about if we write each other's history, but it has to be completely ficticious. For example, I would write:
"What a year for Brady! He finally acheived his lifelong goals of hot air ballooning across the Isle of Patmos and scuba diving in the Panama Canal. Careerwise, he continues to be one of the more successful rodeo clowns in southern Idaho. In the church, he serves faithfully as the Primary President in his small branch, which he enjoys thoroughly. In fact, he literally keeps a countdown of when the next issue of "The Friend" will arrive in his mailbox. Nevertheless, Brady is quick to admit that his proudest achievement in 2007 was creating the perfect cream of rabbit soup recipe. He'll have a little sample for everyone at the reunion! We couldn't be more proud."
Umm.. I haven't done very many histories of late... probably one or two. I don't deserve credit for yearly histories Greg!
I suppose the histories don't have to be too lengthy and detailed like some are. {We don't need to add every single little thing everyone has done all year including GPAs! ;)} Just a little one page thing with blurbs about each family member, age/grade & what they are doing lately/interests. Probably just put your blog address at the bottom then they can come see for themselves! :)
Ha!! I just read Tim's comments. I like Brady's history. :) All written and ready to send off! :)
Thanks Tim. Now I dont have to write one. I am proud of myself.
Tim that was laugh out loud funny! I chuckle just thinking about. You can write all the family histories for everyone.
